Independent Advisor to Yacht Owners
I have worked professionally in yachting for nearly four decades and have held a United States Coast Guard Master license since 1987.
My career has included yacht command, charter operations, brokerage, vessel operations, refits, shipyards, crew leadership, 10+ years on marina board executive teams, and advising owners through the practical realities of yacht ownership.
Today I work directly with owners who want an experienced, independent perspective before making an important decision.
Good decisions in yacht ownership are rarely about speed alone. They are about understanding what a decision sets in motion.
Much of my career has been spent in rooms where decisions were made quickly, and in others where the consequences became clear much later.
That distance between the decision and its eventual cost is where a great deal of unnecessary risk develops.
My role is to recognize it early.
Why Advisory, Not Management?
MY PHILOSOPHY
I do not manage yachts, broker transactions, or provide operational services. That separation is deliberate.
Your captain, manager, broker, yard, and other specialists each have important roles to perform.
My role is different.
I remain outside the day to day operation so I can look at the situation from the owner’s point of view and ask the questions that can be difficult to ask from inside the process.
→ Does this work really need to be done?
→ Is this the right time to do it?
→ Are the costs reasonable?
→ Are we solving the right problem?
→ Does this decision still make sense for the owner?
Sometimes the right answer is to proceed. Sometimes it is to slow down, change direction, spend less, or do nothing at all.
Independence allows me to say that plainly.
How I Think About Value
The best advice often comes before there is an obvious problem.
It comes when someone recognizes that costs are drifting, a project is becoming larger than intended, competing recommendations need to be reconciled, or an important decision deserves another experienced point of view.
My value is not measured by how much activity I create. It is measured by whether I can help you make a better decision.
That requires independence, experience, and sometimes a willingness to say something others may be reluctant to say.
Good advice can save money. It can also save time, relationships, and unnecessary frustration.
Independence & Objectivity
I accept no commissions, referral fees, or transactional compensation. I am not compensated by managers, brokers, shipyards, or service providers.
This independence allows me to provide impartial judgment, confidential counsel, and advice unshaped by external incentives.
My loyalty is not to processes, opinions, or personalities.
It is to outcomes and to the long-term interests they represent.
Independent judgement when it matters the most.
